삼성전자가 28일 서울 논현동 쿤스트할레에서 개최한 ‘2017년형 셰프컬렉션 패밀리허브’ 체험 행사에서 신진 아티스트 최현주(활동명 지오최)의 협업 작품이 관람객들의 관심을 모았다.
이번 행사는 셰프컬렉션 패밀리허브의 혁신적인 기능과 사용자 경험을 소개하기 위해 마련됐으며, 요리 전문가와 생활 분야 전문가뿐 아니라 예술가들이 참여해 제품이 제시하는 새로운 라이프스타일을 다양한 시각으로 표현했다.
특히 최현주(지오최)는 허보리, 하루 작가와 함께 셰프컬렉션의 텍스처드 디자인과 패밀리허브의 다양한 활용성을 예술 작품으로 재해석했다. 작품은 냉장고의 입체적인 질감과 디지털 기술이 결합된 미래형 주방의 이미지를 시각적으로 구현하며 제품의 철학을 효과적으로 전달했다.
삼성전자는 단순한 가전제품을 넘어 생활과 예술, 기술이 융합된 새로운 경험을 제공한다는 취지 아래 이번 전시를 기획했다. 최현주(지오최)의 작품 역시 기술과 감성을 연결하는 매개체로서 관람객들에게 색다른 영감을 선사했다.
행사에서는 프렌치 레스토랑 '레스쁘아'의 임기학 셰프가 “2017년형 셰프컬렉션 패밀리허브는 다양한 재료를 최고의 신선도로 보관하고 숙성까지 가능하게 하며 800여 개의 레시피를 제공하는 최고의 냉장고”라고 평가했다. 또한 강민구 셰프, 냉장고 정리 전문가 강명진, 스피치 컨설턴트 임유정 등이 참여해 제품의 실사용 경험을 공유했다.
2017년형 셰프컬렉션 패밀리허브는 음성인식 기반의 스마트 기능을 대폭 강화한 것이 특징이다. 사용자는 음성만으로 인터넷 검색, 쇼핑, 일정 관리, 라디오 실행 등의 기능을 이용할 수 있으며, 식재료 관리와 레시피 검색, 온라인 장보기 기능도 지원한다.
가족 구성원별 계정 생성 기능과 맞춤형 홈 화면 구성 기능도 추가돼 가족 간 소통과 일정 관리가 한층 편리해졌다. 여기에 스마트폰 미러링, 음악 스트리밍, 뉴스와 날씨 정보 제공 등 다양한 생활 편의 기능도 탑재됐다.
삼성전자는 이번 행사를 통해 첨단 IoT 기술과 예술적 감성을 결합한 새로운 가전의 방향성을 제시했다. 특히 최현주(지오최)를 비롯한 젊은 아티스트들의 참여는 셰프컬렉션 패밀리허브가 단순한 냉장고를 넘어 현대인의 라이프스타일을 담아내는 플랫폼으로 진화하고 있음을 보여줬다는 평가를 받았다.

Samsung Blends Art and Innovation at Chef Collection Family Hub Event, Featuring Artist Jioh Choi
Samsung Electronics drew attention to the intersection of technology, lifestyle, and art at its 2017 Chef Collection Family Hub showcase held on March 28 at Kunsthalle in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul. Among the highlights of the event was the collaborative artwork created by emerging artist Choi Hyun-joo, known professionally as Jioh Choi.
The event was designed to introduce the innovative features and user experience of the 2017 Chef Collection Family Hub refrigerator. While culinary and lifestyle experts demonstrated the product’s capabilities, artists were invited to interpret the appliance’s design philosophy through creative expression.
Jioh Choi collaborated with fellow artists Heo Bori and Haru to create an installation inspired by the Chef Collection’s textured design and the Family Hub’s multifunctional user experience. The artwork translated the refrigerator’s tactile surfaces and connected smart-home features into a visual narrative, offering visitors a unique perspective on how technology can enhance everyday life.
Through her contribution, Jioh Choi explored the relationship between digital innovation and human experience, transforming a household appliance into a source of artistic inspiration. The installation reflected Samsung’s vision of integrating advanced technology with emotional and aesthetic value.
The event also featured renowned culinary professionals, including Lim Ki-hak of the French restaurant Lespoir, who praised the Chef Collection Family Hub as “the ultimate refrigerator,” highlighting its ability to preserve ingredients at peak freshness, support food aging and storage, and provide access to more than 800 recipes. Chef Kang Min-goo, home organization expert Kang Myung-jin, and communication consultant Lim Yoo-jung also shared their experiences with the product.
The 2017 Chef Collection Family Hub introduced a range of next-generation smart features, including cloud-based voice recognition that enables users to search the internet, shop online, manage schedules, and control applications using only voice commands. Enhanced food management tools, personalized family accounts, and customizable home screens further improved the user experience.
Additional features included smartphone screen mirroring, music streaming services, daily weather and news briefings, and integrated shopping capabilities that allow users to search recipes, purchase ingredients, and complete payments directly through the refrigerator’s interface.
By incorporating artwork from emerging talents such as Jioh Choi, Samsung demonstrated that the future of home appliances extends beyond functionality. The collaboration showcased how technology, design, and artistic creativity can come together to redefine the modern kitchen and create a richer, more connected lifestyle experience.
